Good morning, all. A friend wanted me to ask you all what neighborhoods she should avoid if she moves to Sacramento. I did see one thread that you already have but it seems to be centered around school districts which would not concern her. She didn't say whether she's looking to rent or buy but given her current circumstances, I'd guess rent first and buy later.

Thank you for some ideas.

Stay away from South Sac imo. She may be best looking at suburbs like Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Elk Grove.

P S. An addenda from my friend. She says she is looking at Carmichael, citrus heights area (North Sacramento).

To explain why I am posting for her, she is at work and - naturally - quite busy. She feels I can save her some time by gathering ideas. Then she will take over.

Thanks to you.

There are good and not so good areas in both, maybe you could google these forums for past posts regarding those areas? Without more specifics about what she wants it's really hard to comment further. Citrus Heights has it's own Police Dept., Carmichael is at the mercy of the useless Scott Jones Sac Sheriff's Dept.

Thank you. Other than not needing to be concerned about school districts, I'd say she wants whatever most of us want - a safe and affordable area with conveniences of stores we have to visit often. Then, of course, she'll have to investigate individual places herself. She only asked me to see what I could find out about areas to be avoided.

I did Google these forums and forwarded to her the one that was general to all of the city. I'll try those two particular areas. Thank again. Appreciate the help.

I would recommend Carmichael south of Madison Avenue and along the Fair Oaks Blvd corridor.
