Could someone please help with insight on how property taxes are paid in Sac,edh, and placer counties.

When are the due ?Are they paid twice a year?

In Chicago we pay them twice a year. Is it similiar in Sac?

Also what are gas prices like now in Sac? In Chicago they range around the $3.45 range...Just curious.

If you have a mortgage impound account, you will pay taxes every month as a part of your mortgage payment as well as homeowners insurance.

And if you don't, you'd better get a savings account you can't too easily touch (I use ING Direct online) and make monthly deposits into it so the money's there when the taxes are due.

Base property taxes in Placer County are 1.1% of assessed value, less a homeowner exemption, then add in city taxes (varies) and bonds, mello roos or any other add on's (example street lights, sewer fees) again varies by location. Due dates are Nov 1 and Feb 1, payable by Dec 10, April 10. The new property owner will also get a supplemental tax bill within a few months of purchase.

What are property taxes like in Chicago?

Reg self serve gas prices are now 3.65/gal & higher (ca has a lot of taxes and fees on gas)

Taxes vary in the Chicago area based on which county you live in.They are much higher than Ca. Usually the run about 1.5%to 2.75% of home "value".In Chicago they rarely lower taxes on a house...so if the previous owner paid $600000 and they sell it to you for $520000 years later it rarely ever gets readjusted. You have to file an appeal and cross your fingers. Our last house we paid $420000 and after 3 years the taxes were $12900?yr. Cook county is one of the most wasteful counties in the country. We love that prop 14 in Ca.

Yikes over $1000/mo on taxes! You won't be retiring on only Social Security if you have to pay that bill every month.
I would hate to see what Ca taxes would be without prop 13 (although it gets blamed for the lack of everything) The cities and counties have come up with ways to "tax" us without calling it a tax, fees for everything.

I guess the city of Chicago was talking about a daily tax ..say $15.00/ a day for anyone coming in to the city to work . Your right the just invent ways to levy a tax on us all.
