How would you describe the culture in Sacramento? How does it stand out versus other major California cities? (Los Angeles: incomes, quality of life)

Oh and regardless of education, Sac residents are a lot more surly, abrasive, confrontational, etc. Still a lot of that "know nothing know it it all" redneck vibe. Where ignorant Valley Bumpkins consider themselves experts on complex worldly affairs, because they watch fox news.

Throw that in with the local low lives, and bay area ghetto people priced out, and the region had a much more trashy vibe.

The coastal areas have ghettos. But you don't see the whole car on a front lawn, meth cooking RV in the driveway, women wearing pajamas at 3pm type of thing, that is so common in 2/3 of the Sac metro.

The Central Valley as a whole has low college education rates, I'll give you that. Bakersfield is more uneducated than most cities in The South, which actually has high college education rates in Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.

As for Sacramento being Fox News land, not so much. For whatever reason Sacramento may look like it belongs in the midwest, with its agrarian roots, but it's still solidly blue as a county.

Yes that too. Sacramento is filled with tattoo freaks. I am in PHX for the weekend. Folks are very clean cut here. Have seen very few tattoos.

That is good to know. I think Phoenix is much cleaner and much more economically vibrant and ascendant than Sacramento.

But, did you know that Maricopa County is actually far more conservative than Sacramento County? I don't know, but if you thought Sacramento was Fox News land, then Phoenix would be even more so.

Yea Phx was noticably more conservative.

I went to a ball game and everyone stood for the anthem.

But at the same time you didn't see politics outwardly advertised the way you do IN SAC. Maybe because Phx is made up of Socal and Chicago transplants.

Thats what I hate about norcal. It's not good enough to pick a side. Everyone has to advertise and make their opinion known. Even when it is not solicited.

I actually I live in Sacramento unlike some of the other posters in here who don't even live in Sacramento.

Politically, the greater Sacramento Metro is as diverse has they come and actually quite balanced more so than LA County and SoCal, and the Bay Area.

The City of Sacramento, the City of Davis where the University of California is located are very LIBERAL, heavily Democratic. The cities of West Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, and Elk Grove are blue and Democratic. The City of Citrus Heights less Democratic but still a majority blue. The City of Folsom less Democratic but still a majority blue. The Cities of Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln is where you find 1/2 to 2/3 Republicans; 1/2 to 1/3 Democrats. Rural areas east of Sacramento tend to be the most Republican and Libertarian. Rural areas north and south of Sacramento tend be the most Republican.

Everyone (99%) of Sacramento sports fans stand up for the anthem at ball games.
