We are currently doing the whole tech rat race thing in the Bay Area with three young kids. Like many of those in the bay area, we are finding our high-cost 3/2 ranch homeshack a bit cramped for our family of 5 + some in-laws and are looking for an escape/second home for the weekends: bigger lot (quarter acre), pool, and maybe a place to park an RV?

We have some family living in Roseville and Sacramento, and have always liked the area. It would really be great to have a designated place to spend holidays and weekends and possibly retire in.

Budget-wise, we’d be comfortable under 1M, but can go up to 1.5M.

We like EDH, but are a bit concerned that the HOAs might be too oppressive to an RV parked in the driveway.

Meadow Vista / Winchester CC looks good too, as does Granite Bay. We like Folsom, but a bit concerned it may look too much like where we live during the week.

Since schools are not important to us, would it be worthwhile to look further up north or further east?

Any cities/neighborhoods we aren’t thinking of?

If not too far for you I'd probably consider the area around Auburn.

There are parts of El Dorado Hills that aren’t hoa and won’t care about an RV. But the hoa communities mostly do care.

Granite Bay has an area off Oak leaf with homes w polls and a bit of lNd in your budget that you can park an RV - great neighborhood.
