honestly, I dont advocate gentrification. it really just pushes minorities who cant afford the cost of living elsewhere. look at the mission district in San Francisco. you can pretty much make the observation that whites have sucked up the decades of latino culture to make room for bakeries and coffee shops.
So how many decades does a 'culture' have to occupy a neighborhood before it 'belongs' to that group? Almost all residential neighborhoods change demographically over decades. If somebody wants to put down roots they can purchase property and nobody can kick them out. Obviously for many property owners a large sum payout is worth more to them than some precious neighborhood culture, otherwise they wouldn't sell. So why bemoan the loss of something that stakeholders clearly aren't that invested in? Who says, ah yes remember the good old days of Oak Park in the 1980's?

You seem not to understand the history of redlining that has occurred in the West. The minorities who were pushed out to the areas such as oak park were not able to truly afford a life there. You posting that they should have bought property there is very ignorant. There is a such thing as a poor demographic, in case you forgot, life is not all middle and upper class. Yes a large sum is the more attractive option when you are offering to a poor family who is living paycheck to paycheck, but where does that large sum lead to? Relocation to another area full of poverty stricken people who were bought out as well.

There are people who reminisce about old sacramento, just because it did not appeal to you does not mean that everyone has the same opinion. Where you see guns, gangs, and drugs; I see a thriving african american community that struggles day to day. How come when you never actually lived there or interacted with the people who lived there, you wuld make such a comment? If you got to know them, you would maybe understand their plight and viewpoint a bit better and wouldn't make such an off base generalization about whether people miss 1980's sacramento or not.

In the end all this boils down to is a certain race group toying with human lives and treating them as second class citizens ready to be flung when an area could make money. Unable to see something that was created from very little.

also, BLM is stupid.
