Also, what areas are crime-ridden that should be avoided?

I’m not sure about the fallout from this summer, but when I was young and single I loved living in downtown. If you enjoy partying midtown is even better. What’s your budget? The area has gotten more expensive over the last few years.

Thanks! I'll get it out.
Also, I heard it is really hot there. Is it shorts and t shirt all year round? Besides maybe December and January?

No. It's cool, overcast, and rainy, generally from November to about April.

But does it get cold? Say compared to Portland/Seattle?

Yeah, pretty much--average January low temperature in Seattle is 37 degrees, Portland is 39 degrees, Sacramento 41 degrees, average Sacramento high in January is 56 degrees vs 47 in Portland or Seattle, so like a couple degrees warmer but not by much. It rarely ever snows here, like maybe once every decade and it all melts before noon, and we do get sunny days in winter, but they're cold sunny days rather than overcast (in fact it's colder here when the sky is clear at night because the clouds hold in the heat.)

It's not the same wet cold as Seattle or Portland. We don't get snow like they can. It's not rainy and overcast from November to April. Maybe it was in decades past but the last few winters have been super mild, except for winter 2016/2017. We don't get the tule fog like we used to. And if we do just drive 30 minutes up the hill to Auburn for sun. We only get about 18 inches of rain per year and some years we don't even get that. I have pictures of me wearing shorts and a t shirt getting sun on Christmas a few years ago. Usually it's just pants and light jacket weather.

Crime ridden areas: Oak Park, Meadowview, most of downtown Sacramento is over run with homeless, parts of Antelope and parts of Citrus Heights that border I-80. Carmichael near I-80. South Sacramento. North Highlands.

Where should a young professional live? Depends on where you work. If you can work remotely then live in a nice area like Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Folsom, parts of Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks. If you have to commute downtown you could live in any of these cities but the commute will suck. If you want nightlife (lol in Sacramento) then live downtown near bars. Rents in nicer areas will hover above $2k a month. If you want to buy you're looking at $350K-$600K.

Well LOL anywhere for nightlife right now. But you clearly haven't been out in a while for nightlife in Sac if you don't think it offers much. The whole midtown- area and parts of downtown have plenty of fun options for evening entertainment.

That's your subjective opinion and you're more than entitled to it.

Is it possible to get to El Dorado national forest or other forests without a car?
