What school is good depends on what you are studying. so I would say sac has good school and davis has good school too, so that isn't much to worry until your kids are ready for college...besides, they might move out anyways

I forgot to add science major to my reply

I know a lot of Criminialists in the Phoenix,AZ area that went to Davis for forensic science education.

Both nice places though.
Davis pretends to be Berkeley, but is really more like OC. As another local put it, "the most conservative liberal town I've ever seen."

We looked in both and decided Folsom was much better from a price point and it still does have a small town fee, in the older areas.

Folsom should be better for families. Davis is for college or young people.
Though, Folsom is more conservative than Davis.

Bingo! Davis is like a Monet. From far way it looks pleasent but up close it's a big old mess.

I've lived in Davis for the last 5 years. I've also lived in Berkeley and SF and grew up in OC. Davis really wants everyone to believe it's like Berkeley but it's not even close. As Daniel Weintraub wrote in the Sacramento Bee, "Liberal town? Davis is white, wealthy and conservative" and he was being nice.

If I didn't work here, I'd never live here.

Though, Folsom is even more conservative. Davis is a liberal conserative town. And Davis is diverse. It is pretty much half white and half asian. Okay, maybe a little bit more white people. I was a UCD student, but I did not feel like it tried to be Berkeley. In fact, I do not want it to become Berkeley except the fact that Berkeley has so much great food. Davis is a college town while Berkeley is a college city?

What I recall of davis is that the whole place looks like it was built in the late 60's/70's and never touched again.

I really like Folsom...especially old Folsom. When we lived in Folsom we were just off of Natomas St. and we would ride around Lake Natomas 3-4 times a week. The American River Trail is fantastic. The light rail now goes up to Folsom so if you want to jump on and head down town that is pretty nice. I am really cheap so I love that their is now a WinCo in Folsom for inexpensive groceries.

Good luck!
