Hi everyone! I'm new to this website and would appreciate any advice on what internet resources to use for looking at apartment rentals before I actually head up to Sac. I'm going to be working at UCD Med Center and am planning on finding something in midtown mainly b/c I want walking distance to bars and restaurants.

However, I'm leery of ending up in a shady neighborhood which I understand is sometimes possible, particularly at night...so any recommendations on where to avoid and how to look??

Thank you very much!

If you're interested in midtown, go for anything west of 19th Street (29th Street is technically the eastern edge of Midtown.) If you also want to be able to walk to or ride Light Rail to work, go for something south of M Street (3-4 block walk to the train station,) again, west of 19th.

East Sac would be a good option too. It a safe area, even closer to UCD Med Ctr. There are bars/restaurants you can walk to or take the lightrail downtown. Here are a couple of rental websites:

sacrentals.com
sacramentorentals.com
Craigslist - sacramento apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist - search for midtown

Or you could try apartments.com - Midtown is 95816 and East Sac is 95816 and 95819.

A lot of midtown apartments go fast and you just have to drive around and write down phone #s b/c the landlords don't advertise anywhere.

I was a professional single woman in my 20s when I lived in Midtown.

The easy way is most of 95816 is good, try to stay away from 95814

East Sac and Mckinley Park are very good spots, try to stay away from UC Med center area - although Tahoe Park is nice.

The best way I found a rental was to just drive around, but coming from somewhere else I'd say try Craigslist.

The best parts of Midtown are in the middle letters (c street to p street) and high numbers - above 19th is best

There are some good spots in the other letters and numbers but advice was just a guideline
