Hi all,

New to the forum here. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for best schools/districts in Sacramento for children with autism? We are open to considering public and/or private schools. My family currently resides in SoCal, but we will move up north for better schools and programs for our 4 year old. Thanks in advanced!

I don't know, but here is who I would contact who I think probably could give you better information.

UC Davis has something called the Mind Institute. They are doing research on a lot of disabilities. They were also hosting parent support groups but I don't know if covid has stopped that, but I would call or visit their resource center. The hours and phone numbers are here.

The other place I would contact is the Alta Regional Center. This is a program ran by the state that provides resources to people with disabilities and again, they likely can give you better feedback than I can.

I would also spend sometime reading poking around on these websites beacuse they might have additional links to resouces I didn't spot.

Sac City USD has a good program for autistic kids (and also speech, and OT). Our experiences at Pony Express Elemtary and Cabrillo Elementary were great. And I agree with Alta Regional Center and the UC Davis Mind Institute being great resources.
