My real estate agent has found some nice homes for us in Citrus Heights and Antelope . I know nothing about either place. Are they nice places to live? Safe?

it depends on what part of each, both places have some nice areas to them, and both places have some really dumpy areas to them...

Do you have kids?

My impression is that anything east of I-80 is ok, most stuff west of i-80 isn't. But I've only been here a couple of years.

I'd favor Citrus Heights, which became an independent city about 10 years ago. They conducted a citizen feedback survey, it was quite exensive and showed that the city had made some significant progress:

There are better places to live. Why is your agent only looking in CH and Antelope? Is it because of home prices? What is your budget for a home? If I had to pick one of those I suppose I would go with CH.

As for safety, you would need to be more specific about where the potential home is located.

Yes - please tell us your reasons for checking out Antelope/Citrus Heights? What is your budget/criteria?

There are MUCH better places to live that are affordable.

My realtor has also been steering us to Citrus Heights, what areas are much better?

Where are you going to be working? Do you have kids? What are you hoping to spend?

Citrus Heights is hit or miss. In parts the schools aren't that great, but in others, its not so bad.

The newest developments in Citrus Heights are in what is called Stock Ranch behind where the main post office is located. Look for Stock Ranch Road on mapquest. Other developments that were built within the last 7-10 years are off of Van Maren Lane between Oak Lakes Lane and Campfire Way and also off of Van Maren Lane in the Bridgemont Way area.
