AHHHH - well my best advice will be to get all your outdoor fun done by noon. Luckily having a toddler I'm sure you wake up at like 6 am (well, we did!)

That's when we'd go to early morning cafes - like Cornerstone, and breakfast was $2.75! And he'd have toast and bacon

We'd go to McKinley Park, and either feed ducks, or bike ride or just go to the playground

There's Fairytale Town for $3 in Land Park

Then when it started to heat up - we'd go to the Library or Barnes & Noble and read.

Afternoons are when I would grocery shop - or do our play time in the house. And naps are important, so after tiring him out in the morning he'd take his afternoon nap at home anyhow.

Stay indoors and turn on the AC. :-)

I'm in Roseville which has fantastic parks & rec programs, and my son and daughter (5 & 2) will be in a few of the camps and classes this summer -- swimming, cooking, gymnastics. Lots of private daycamps around, too.

Considering we moved from the Bay Area (cool climate) just last year, we've adjusted quite well. We did just fine last summer. I look at it this way: it's really nice to be able to walk outside or go out at night, feeling that warm evening air, still wearing your shorts and flip-flops that you were wearing during the day.
