My husband is relocating to the Rocklin/Roseville area and we've been looking at new houses out there. WestPark looks wonderful, but I understand it might be years before it's fully built out. I really appreciate all of the information people have provided here - it's extremely helpful! I was wondering if anyone lives in a Lennar home with the solar technology and would be willing to share a bit about their experience? Does the solar features really help cut electricity costs? How do you feel about the craftsmanship of the home? In short, are you happy with your purchase? This is our first home; we have two children (9 months and 4 years), so any information you might have on Roseville in general (other places we should check out?), solar homes, etc., would be extremely helpful. Many thanks, in advance!

First, Roseville is a great place to live. Taxes are cheaper in Roseville as opposed to Rocklin. The solar feature is OK. Some people of our neighborhood have gone without an eclectic bill for months at a time. We have a full house 24/7, pool, hot tub. Needless to say, we have an electric bill every month. Does it save? Yes.

Lennar has undertaken something called value engineering. A fancy word for cutting corners. I have really noticed this on the Sentiero Homes. The quality of materials and craftsmanship has gone way down hill. Their latest offering has composite roofs with a stupid looking solar collector on top. I have even heard rumors about a class action law suit against them for bringing down the value of the whole development of West Park. I haven't heard anything bad about their larger houses. I do know that none of the original upgrades are included anymore. They used to have something they called "Everything Included". It was upgraded everything included. That is long gone. If you're really interested in buying a Lennar home, Josh is the guy to see. He is very nice and straight forward.

I think Centex offers solar also. I know they did for a short time.

Our community has a bulletin board. It is at westroseville.org. See what the residents are talking about.

Thank you so much for this - it is very helpful! We were actually considering Lennar's newest development, Arbor Grove. The houses are a bit smaller, but suit our needs perfectly, but I do see now how the quality isn't quite up to what it is in the other developments with the larger houses. We'll have to think about it a bit more. The price, certainly, can't be beat right now!

And thank you so much for the westroseville.org site! It's wonderful!
