citygirl: Weatherstone is still Weatherstone, it is just operated by the folks who run Old Soul Coffee & Baking (in the alley of 17th and Capitol, also highly recommended) instead of Java City. It's still pretty much the same, but the Old Soul coffee leaves the current Java City brew in the dust. You might also be interested in the latest Java City remodel at 18th & Capitol: it no longer resembles a Starbucks, now it looks like an Ikea.

New Hel went out of business because of financial problems, and Krispy Kreme rented the top floor for their business office. They never intended to put a shop in there, but the sign gave people the idea. The real irony now is that Krispy Kreme closed up shop here: there aren't any left in Sacramento (not that we need 'em, we have plenty of whoop-ass local donut shops.)

Take your friend to Ella or Lounge on 20 instead, they're oh so hip without being in a dang strip mall.

I knew Krispy K went out of business - I remember when people were lined up for donuts and everyone was worried about the mom & pop stores

I STILL wouldgo through the drive through donut shop right down from Krispy K on Arden, they were WAY better, cheaper and their donuts were bigger.

You mean the Java City by Peasano's?
Lounge on 20 sounds promising but also sounds like it might be busy too!

citygirl: yeah, the original Java City. It's nowhere near as cool as the old classic interior but it's better than the woodsy look. The coffee is marginally better too.

Lounge on 20 is probably going to be hella busy, but so are all the other hot spots. It looks pretty fancy.
