I just recently moved to Sacramento a few months ago. I was wondering first of all if there are any after hours clubs here? And also if anyone had any suggestions on job hunting..I have done the typical search; craigslist, yahoo, monster, sacbee, sacjobs, etc. I have even been applying to fast food companies, even though I haven't done that type of work in years, but right now I just need a job. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

After-hours nightclubs, no...not officially anyhow. Sacramento has a regulation against dancing after 2:00 AM dating from the sixties that I don't think was ever taken out of the law. There are a couple of after-hours bar/restaurant type places downtown--INK on N and 28th is open until 4 AM, Kasbah until 3 AM, I think a couple of others.

Is after hours - a secret phrase of something naughty I don't know about - or are you asking about "Is any Open after 2 am?" Then use WBurg's advise - I don't think I've been awake past 2 am in 10 years.

ON the job hunt - what do you do? What are you looking for? DO you have an education? If so, in what?

citygirl: normally it refers to nightclubs that are open after the regular shutdown hours of most nightclubs. In other words, things we don't really have in Sacramento, thanks to aforementioned anti-all-night-love-in law (that was brought back to the fore in the early nineties when police wanted to stop all-night raves) and the statewide 2 AM no-sell-alcohol law.

Police efforts to chase out gangs have been pretty successful, it is busy on the weekends and still a big ol' tourist draw. There are several nightclubs, when I have visited late at night it is lively but doesn't feel dangerous the way it used to. Times are tough everywhere, but I still see a lot of tourists and the Railroad Museum is still busy.

I don't know what kind of work you are looking for, but the UCD Health System in Sacramento always has a variety of positions open. I've heard of a possible hiring freeze very soon, so if you are interested, check them out right away. If you want their website address, send me a private message and I'll send it to you.
