30% of the budget is for K-12 education. After that, health and human services takes a share of 28%. Two things eat up 58% of the entire budget! Wow. Higher education comes in a distant third at 9.7%.

http://www.ebudget.ca.gov/pdf/Budget...getSummary.pdf

Anyone can argue that much of the "health and human services" portion is taken up by illegals, but what about poor people in general? I think the poor and anyone unable to work (disabled, mentally deficient, etc.) take up the biggest portion. I'm not saying this is a great plan, believe me. I'm sure that those octuplets are going to contribute to these expenses (not to mention the rest of her children!), but that's a rant for another thread.

It's ridiculous that the budget of a state that would be the world's 8th biggest economy is held up because of one Republican vote! Unbelievable. I don't want tax increases either, but I'd also like to get my tax refund before July!

Higher education comes in a distant third because its a fact that most children of illegal immigrants drop out in the 9th and 10th grade.Lets not forget they take up more space in the classrooms as well, oh and dont forget those free lunches. If anyone is handing out anything for free I can more than garuntee they will get in line more than once.More uneducated and unskilled people is just what this state needs, keep those welfare checks coming, and make sure they are in Spanish.

How high do you think your taxes would be if it only took a simple majority to raise them? You say you don't want your taxes raised yet complain about the only thing keeping them from going through the roof.

Sad indeed. This is like those banks who make lots of money and yet when the rainy days come, they give you IOU's?

We have friends counting on these tax returns to stay afloat, luckily for us, we are'nt affected.

Its not like we can give a bank or any other entity that we owe money to an IOU.Hell, the IRS will garnish your check and empty your bank accounts, credit card companies will ding your credit. Its definitely not fair.
