Ok...my wife and I are moving to the Roseville area from Orange County, Ca. We have been looking at the Westpark development but I am now reading about the water treatment plant that is adjacent to the area. I do not know much about these type of plants. What are the negatives to living near one of these? Smells, pollution, water contamination?? I know that there are already established developments off of Fiddyment Rd. that are pretty close to the facility. Is anyone in these communities experiencing problems? Just wondering if I should scratch the development off of our list due to the plant. Any opinions would be appreciated

Here's another string discussing the water treatment plants in that area (there are more strings with info if you do a search for water treatment in the Sacramento forum):

I've never lived near one (that I knew of) so I can't vouch for how it is, but it sounds like it's ok with some and just the thought of it bothers others. Whenever I buy a home, I do think seriously about negative impacts to resale, and that may be a consideration for you.

Water treatment plants are everywhere, you probably have one near you now. I know of one less than a mile from me, and it probably is not the one servicing us. On the general no one is aware of them unless there is a problem, they get on it right away and any smell is usually gone in a hour or so.

You might want to check on it. The term water treatment applies to both ends of the stream. Fresh water and waste. The same department or companies are in charge of both.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will do some further research. I think you are right though. I believe that there are some treatment plants near homes down here and I do not remember hearing about any issues
