We used to have them in our backyard (Del Campo High School). Now they've moved to the La Sierra Center in Carmichael. BOO HISSSSSS!!! Does anybody have any recommendations for good fireworks in the Sacto area?

Do you have any friends in South Sac?

That's where all the illegal fireworks happen not just on 4th of July but the whole week. I was over there last night and people were already blowing up firecrackers.

I doubt it, and frankly it probably would be less cool than you would suspect.

A couple of years ago, when I first relocated to California, I visited some relatives who live in the greater Los Angeles area. They have a home pretty high up on the hill just to the south side of Encino, facing north towards the San Fernando Valley. We were able to sit out on the deck and see the fireworks in Encino, Van Nuys, Tarzana and Sherman Oaks. The only problem was they were so small in the distance, you needed binoculars to really see the show.

Closer is better.

If you are willing to spend a few bucks, the fireworks show in the grandstands in Cal Expo is very nice. If you are feeling very cheap, the levee behind Cal Expo is an excellent vantage point.
