Is Rocklin a nice town? How is comparable with Roseville or Granite Bay?

Rocklin generally is pretty nice. A lot of western placer county was built out at the same time and all of these areas are still pretty nice. Granite Bay and El Dorado Hills are probably a bit more expensive because they are closer to the lake and can be on hills with views.

You might want to spend some time playing around with maps here, especially the 2000 census tract map. You can zoom down to the census tract level (which is really small) that will give you a really good idea who lives where, how much they earn etc.

Yes Rocklin is very nice and comparable to both Roseville and Granite Bay. I lived there for 3 years. It is close to most modern conveniences and has a great school system. Their Parks and Rec is also superb.

Thanks. Actually, this town (or suburb as some ppl prefer lol) came to my attention, because of Rocklin High that in many parameters is one of the best in the region

You might want to look at two things. First UC Davis did a study of what schools in the area sent the most students to UC Davis and why this was the case. It was really suprising how much better some schools did than others. If you don't want to read the entire thing at least read page 12.

http://www.sariweb.ucdavis.edu/downl...ch-Report4.pdf

Second you can look up which high schools send the most students to college here.

Rocklin is a nice town.
To ask if it is comp to GB or Roseville is difficult, because there are so many different types of neighborhoods in both places.

Let's see- on average

Roseville has the most undesirable areas of the 3 (along with the many nice areas)
Rocklin in the middle
Granite Bay has most posh areas

I agree with hydro. Rocklin overall is a good area. I like parts of Rocklin better than others, not particularly fond of the Stanford Ranch area south of Stanford Ranch, west of Sunset, and north of Highway 80. There are some really nice views of the Sacramento valley up in the Whitney Oaks area of Rocklin, but commuting can be painful because of the drive up Park Drive (kind of long).

We have researched Rocklin, Roseville, Granite Bay and surrounding areas... and our personal opinion is that we like what we see in Rocklin the best... And the word on the street is that Rocklin has the best public schools in of all three.
