We are getting ready for our 3rd vacation to Lake Tahoe but this time we are flying into Sacramento instead of Reno. We will get there plenty early on our arrival day to see a few sights. Any suggestions? Great places to eat that are ONLY in that area? We plan on a visit to In n' Out Burger for sure, don't have that here in Dallas. Somewhere to grab a decent bite for lunch before heading to the airport on the day of departure?

Also places to go in and around Tahoe? We stayed before at Harrah's and near Pine Cove. This time we are going to be on the North Shore. Been to Emerald Bay and LOVE IT!!! Must go back there. Plan on doing the gondola up to Squaw Valley and rafting on the Truckee. What else do you recommend (2 adults and 2 children that are 7 & 11)?

Default Trip to Tahoe

You have probably already gone on your trip, but just in case you haven't (or want to make another trip in the future) here are some suggestions. I would suggest a visit to Old Town Sacramento for dinner. There are several restaurants in Old Town that you will only find in Sacramento. You can take the J Street Exit off Highway 5 (it's on the way to the airport, too) and park near Old Town and walk from there and see what interests you.

In Tahoe, the kids would probably like to go on the Tahoe Queen, a refurbished river boat, and visit Circus Circus (the part kids can visit). Not having kids, this is the limit of my knowledge.

Thanks, yes we have already gone and come back. How I wish I was back in Tahoe w/ the hot weather we are having here. I love Tahoe. Would not want to live there all year but in the summer....... YES! It can not be beat.

Someone told us to check out the Old Town area so we drove thru there. We visited the state capital. I've done the paddle boats on the lake so we did not do that this year. We did lots of hiking, biking and hanging out at the beach. We went down to Reno for the day and did take the kids to CircusCircus. All in all, it was a GREAT trip.
