Dallas would be a good choice. Maybe out towards Stayton or Jefferson too.

A couple of more good choices. Also Almsville. Except for the acreage and the goats, throw a dart at a map. Salem is slightly more conservative than liberal most everywhere..

I wish you well on the goat farm.

I have some goats and it was a hell of a lot of work to get set up for them.

Hope you know how to build good tight strong escape-proof fences!

Tips:
If you need to move them around, get a good herding dog or gaurdian dog, and if not, procure a plentiful source of good cheap feed.
They will eat you out of house and home (you are not going to be able to free range many goats on just a couple of acres) and if they get out, good luck rounding them up.
Them critters are fast and stubborn.
And smart at being goats!

BTW, Goats and dogs don't mix well because of the goats personality.
A goat will stand it's ground (and butt) while a sheep will run.
I have an australian sheperd and he is trained to be more of an "in your face" type herding dog than a border collie.
Border Collies slink and stare, but an aussie is a little more "forceful".
He is very useful when I'm alone, but I'd rather use people to help move my goats around.

My neighbors pasture their goats and have a guardian dog, but she just protects, and doesn't herd much.
She just lays around and keeps watch over the goats, but if so much as a sparrow gets close to her goats, it better watch out!

(Sorry about the goat sidetrack)

You won't go wrong heading to Linn County! I would suggest Scio, Sweet Home or Lebanon. If you want a bit more urbanization try Albany.
