My husband got a job offer last week, so it looks like we'll be moving to Salem next month. I lived in Salem years ago, but it seems like the area has changed since I left (more parks & houses, the Carousel, etc.) I am curious what the regular posters and their families do for fun in and around Salem.

The same things regular families do in any other city.

Individuals have their favorites.

Mine include Motorcycle exploring (Highway), Texas Hold'em, State and Local Politics, Cowboy Action Shooting, Hunting, Fishing, Exploring the city and countryside, Square Dance among others.

It's all here in Salem

Welcome to Salem
Its a nice place to call home.
One of my husband and mines favorite things to do in the summer is go Volcano baseball games in Keizer.
The Volcano's are a farm club of the San Francisco Giants and play 7 other teams between fathers day and labor day.
Its neat seeing these young men with big dreams getting their first chance at the big leagues..
This might not be something for you as you have a 2 year old but its just one of many neat things
that is in the area to do..
Have a safe move

Head over to the library when you get settled. They have great activities for the preschool set and it would be a good way to meet some families

For toddler/preschool...

The Gilbert House will be a staple in your activity calendar. The family membership is reasonable and it gets you into OMSI for free so it is totally worth it.

The Carousel and Riverfront splash pad.

The library has good activities for that age.

The Kroc Center has an indoor splash/water park.

Willamette art center has family clay sundays.

Create-a-memory will work in the next year.

Then there are some local festivals that are fun for kids too.
