My family and I currently live in Beaverton (Portland Metro area), and we must be spoiled up here. Tualatin Valley Parks and Rec have a ton of classes for kids: swimming, ballet, etc. She's 4.

We are moving to the Stayton/Lyons area and looking for something similar. I wouldn't mind getting her into tumbling, or bouldering or something. Also swim classes.

Salem's website shows softball. Recreation Programs

What are our options? Thanks!

I would checkout the Y. There are 4 in that area, one in Stayton. I have not been to any of these but check them each out and see what suits you.

Salem Family YMCA
Santiam Family YMCA
Monmouth / Independence Family YMCA
Silver Falls Family YMCA

Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties

Stayton is a town of 8,000 or so. There is no way it would have the options of Beaverton which has a population of 90,000. So first you need to set your expectations for small town living.

Stayton has a community pool and community center. I tried to see if they had an online pdf with a list of classes and couldn't find one to give you the link. You might have to call them to get it.

If you don't mind driving into Salem, then there is the Kroc Center, Athletic Edge and Salem Gymnastics have tumbling classes, The Courthouse Athletic Clubs (you don't have to be a member to do swim lessons, basketball leagues, etc)

Ballet, soccer, etc would be through other private programs.

I used to live in the West Hills and Tualatin Valley P&R was great. Salem just formed differently and everything here is pretty much done by private organizations. There is tons of stuff here, but you can't just go to one place to get it all. If she wanted ballet, then you would likely want to go to American Ballet Academy, and if you wanted to do soccer that would be Cascade Futbol.
