Does anyone know where I can get a foldable map of Salem that has all the streets on it? I contacted the visitor's center, but all they sent was a two sided page map of downtown. I want to be able to have a map that I can mark-up with places that will be important when we move there, like grocery stores, schools, things like that.

You know you can print Google Maps. If you don't want to do that, then I would try Walmart. ODOT might have some, but most people use GPS these days and roads change so far around here they are out of date pretty quickly.

Well, we don't live up there yet, so I can't run into the local store to pick one up. If I can't find what I'm looking for from ODOT, I can see if I can find a place online to order one.

I'd try Amazon.

Definitely 2nd Google maps for the GPS feature and also business information. If you zoom in close on Google maps and click on a business name oftentimes there will be information about busy times (for each day of the week!). Helps if you want to avoid crowds.

The City of Salem has a few maps, too. This one is nice because it shows traffic conditions and most of the attractions downtown are marked.

There is a book of Oregon maps that isn't too expensive. Maybe look on Amazon for that. Sorry, I can't remember who makes it, but there can't be too many of them.

I'll dig around and see if I can find my copy and if I do, I'll come back and post.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do use Google maps, but I like being able to use a paper map as well. I grew up doing it that way. I still have a map in my car of the town that I've lived in for the last 7 years. We got it from a local realtor.

I agree with paper maps. We drove down the coast to CA last summer and then through the mountains over to I-5 and back to Eugene. We mapped the whole trip with campgrounds, great coffee shops, etc on google maps and then didn't have mobile phone reception on most of the trip. Eck!!
