Since it passed, I'm expecting at some point there will be a lawsuit and it will force the state into expanding the Oregon Health Plan and probably a one-payer type of system.

No, they are not willing to pay for this themselves. - Generally Oregonians over last few decades have degraded into some of the most greedy people in the country. Like leftists everywhere, they want things but expect others to pay for them.

Below are excerpts from a recent letter to editor in the local newspaper. This is a classic example of Oregon (Or more accurately Portland) stupidity:

"Thanks to Shane Dixon Kavanaugh for his excellent reporting on the Preschool For All tax What wonderful news that, despite low compliance, we raised more than expected to fund high-quality, culturally responsive preschool for more than 1,000 3- and 4-year-olds in the county, and to pay their hardworking, caring teachers a living wage.

This is a great outcome for our entire community from a tax that only affects individuals earning over $125,000 per year.

Kavanaugh’s reporting does raise one important question for me: If there is so much wealth in our community, why aren’t we harnessing it for more public services that would benefit everyone? We all know that we desperately need affordable public housing, public health care, and reliable public transit that reduces our reliance on cars. Let’s continue to make our community more livable. Let’s tax the rich!"

This mindset continues to get elevated here by Progressives who understand that they can obtain and increase their power by cajoling these "useful idiots" into voting them in on premise they will deliver freebies.

It is a really bad downward spiral and does not bode well for future of this state or entire west coast.

Therefore you can't make it affordable by mandating lower pay for healthcare workers and suppliers because they will just go elsewhere, resulting in healthcare shortages. The only way to make this "work" is for the state to fund it, which means much higher taxes. Will taxpayers stick around for this, especially high earning individuals who can easily relocate?

Englands taxes aren't much different from ours and they get medical for very little.

I lived in England and they get health care, but it is not very good health care and it is rationed. All the shops, buildings, and houses are cold in the winter because income goes to paying taxes with nothing left for heating. Very few people can afford to travel and the majority of the population never gets more than 20 miles from home. Their health care service is always teettering on the edge of bankruptcy.

So yes, they get medical for very little, but it probably isn't worth as much as they are paying for it.

Also, everyone in Britain pays taxes, not just the top 50% of the population.
