I have given up on the idea of living in Eugene! Went there from the Seattle area for one night to check on property... made a U turn only to find they are illegal there... I had stayed at the Broadway Inn, next to the University Inn on Broadway, and the only place for a quick breakfast was McDonald's the other side with a median in between, so I drove to the first light and turned there. A motorcycle cop stopped me, and cross examined me! "Why are you in Eugene" Where are you staying" " how long are you staying"! I am a 66 year old woman, had two dogs in the car who didn't even growl at him! I thought I had somehow arrived in Arizona! Fine was 194 (45 was refunded later as I had a clean record up until then). The people at the motel told me that cop is notorious, and I decided that if that cop is, and his behavior is accepted in Eugene, I don't want to be there! Of course it is a quick and easy way to make money for the city from visitors who don't know any better !
