Hello,

I just recently found out that I was being transferred to SLC for work. We'd like to live in a more diverse area, and were thinking about trying to find a great loft/condo in the dowtown area. Our price range is probably about $225k-$300k. Does anyone have any thoughts? I found a couple of new construction buildings online, but really don't want to wait the 6+ months for construction before settling in.

Also, does anyone have any "must sees" for live music venues?

Thanks!

Michelle

I just moved from the condo in downtown SLC so here's my take. There is a large complex called Zion's Summit (200N and 0 East) that has a few units for sale. The units are ok and the association is pretty strict. That is a good and bad thing. Most of the people who live there are retired so it's really quiet. There were a few penthouse units for sale there in the past month or so.

You will find much nicer units in American Towers, and at the Gateway. You have to remember that although the Gateway is a higher end mall, the mall was built to revitalize a rundown area. They are cleaning it up, but the units are just east of the railroad tracks and border homeless shelters on the south. The units are very nice, but I personally would not live there.

I would look for a condo in the Emigration Canyon area or somewhere on the east side of Salt Lake (East of 1300th East)

As for live music they just opened a place called The Depot in the Gateway mall (Used to be a Union Station of Salt Lake) that have live music every night I believe. The gateway mall is just West of the Delta Center (where the Jazz play and is the biggest area in Utah).
