I thought since I saw some bickering & closed posts, I'd post this thread. =) I'm the rose colored glasses Momma, who wins the 'most easygoing Mom' award in my local Mom's group each year. =)

So, I thought I'd start a POSITIVE thread for the SLC area. =) What I love about the SLC area is the family friendly atmosphere, the smoke free, mostly, areas, I love the mountains, I love the fact that I can see the whole SLC valley from my bedroom window. I love that my neighborhood is quiet & idyllic, to me. =) I love that I can drive just a bit, & be 'in the middle of nowhere'. =) There isn't much I don't like about Utah. That is why, when hubby was offered a big promotion to move to Scranton, PA, I begged to stay here.

I LOVE it here! Who's w/ me!? What do YOU love about Utah?! =)

I love the relatively crime-free area I live in, the lack of Goths in my area, the amazing view of the mountains, the relative lack of traffic, the cleanliness of the city, how I am only 15 min. from Downtown, the fact that we have a very good symphony and several dance companies, the dollar cinema, and the Broadway theater for better movies.

OK just to keep Belle happy I'll put on my rose colored glasses as well. Like just about everyone out there I suspect the #1 thing to love is indeed the mountains. What's not to like about them. They are awesome, and on a clear day are the reason to be here. I do like the fact that driving times to and from anyplace are fairly calculable which for a city this size is unusual. I actually like the fact that thus far the State by and large IS isolated from the next large metro area. Unlike where I grew up where the metro went on for what seemed like hours. I love to see a fast running stream that is NOT muddy or polluted as we have an abundance of here up in the canyons. But my #1 favorite thing is right after a long rain storm the unbeatable smell of the canyons permeating the area near my home. It is a level of freshness that is indescribable with overtones of the trees, grasses and earth mixed with just the right amount of moisture that soothes my soul. Wish I got it more often, but perhaps if I did I wouldn't appreciate it quite as much. Also a couple of very caring LDS neighbors (and I'm not LDS) that have kept my driveway clear in at least half a dozen snow storms as I had shoulder reconstruction and sinus surgery this winter and they were aware of it knowing I couldn't take care of it. We love to pick on the LDS here on this and other forums, but in the end the ones that "walk the walk" are to be blessed for it. They are good neighbors to have in the end (and they make wonderful cookies) Now if I could just get their kids to stop screaming so much in the summer it would be PERFECT

Oh yeah, I forgot the former LDS bishop down the block who gets out early w/ his big snow blower. He does the sidewalks on both sides of the block.

Don't really know. I came on here to see what the area is like. We may be moving there, so when I saw this I wanted to see what people had to say, but no one is replying. Was just wondering. Seems a lot of posts turn negative and was wanting some positive, that's all.

Well, it is a fairly new post and was posted at the beginning of a weekend, so that might have something to do with it.

I love the views, I love how safe the city is, I love how clean it is. I love the family values atmosphere. I love just about everything here, quite honestly.

I love the mountains, the scenery, the sunsets, the skies.

I love living in an area that only has 1.5 million people and it is the same size as an area where I used to live that had 16 million.

I love the slower pace of life, people who friendly and low crime. I like how many people are willing to help out others if something goes wrong.

I like how everything is within 30 minutes.
