My husband is considering applying for a transfer to SLC, so we are researching the various suburbs.... I came across the Daybreak community, which looks like a great place for families. I can't seem to find any homes there that have much of a yard, though. Are there areas within Daybreak that have larger lots?? I have also seen a few nice homes in other areas of South Jordan, but would love to have the amenities offered to Daybreak residents (gym, pool, etc). Can nonresidents purchase a membership?

I be eventually looking for a job in the area as well. I'm a certified pediatric RN and definitely want to stay in that specialty. Are there local hospitals that handle high acuity peds patients?

thanks in advance!

Julie

I'm confident a gentleman by the nik of "Hilgi" will be chiming in shortly. He's a HUGE proponent of Daybreak as he lives there. For what you want it sound ideal indeed. As for your position it also sounds tailor made for this area. We have more kids per capita as well as babies on the way, than any place perhaps on earth. So you've chosen the right profession and location to use it. Jordan Valley in West Jordan just down the road from South Jordan, as well as the new Riverton IHC hospital a mile or 2 from Daybreak are the prominent hospitals near that area. Sounds like you'll be all set......

Hi, Julie. As dcisive mention, hilgi will probably be along soon to give you all of the details about Daybreak. He loves it there. You may want to consider looking at Primary Children's Medical Center for a job. It's an excellent children's hospital, one of the best in the intermountain west. If you were to move to Daybreak, though, it would be quite a commute for you.

Ya, ya, ya. I do like it here. There are some larger lot homes but not a ton. They are big on the sustainability type thing. Coming from a big a lot I wanted small one, I like watching the HOA guys plow the sidewalks in front of me.

Memberships are for residents only (including renters). I love what we get, boats in the summer on the lake, the pool, gym, community gardens and lots of fun events. They have several green court house (I live in one) where all the homes face one common (HOA maintenance) lawn, it is great for kids.

I like the people here and the wine club, we made friends quickly here.

The best bet is to just look around here, you will see the various types of housing. Let me know if you want to know more.

I've just put in an offer on a home in Daybreak. There are homes on 1/4 acre lots, but the price is high - you would be looking at around mid 300's to 400's for that. Daybreak was designed with the concept of having a lot of common area space for neighbors to congregate. The planners did not design it for residents to be confined to their own yards & homes all the time. I ended up putting in an offer on a new home - for 275K I'm getting a 0.1 acre lot. I'm excited; I want a small yard. (It's a private lot home & not a courtyard home). I believe you have to be a resident of Daybreak to use the amenities, but it may be possible to buy a membership to the DCC (Daybreak Community Center), but I'm not sure.
