Hello everyone. I am moving to SLC for the summer to do an internship with American Express. I am a 22 year old college student from Texas A&M University.

The office is located at:
American Express - Salt Lake City Center
4315 South 2700 West
West Valley City, UT 84184

I am looking for an apartment for 3 months and am wondering where a good area would be? I want to live somewhat close to work, but I would like to be able to go out and do fun stuff at night in SLC, since it seems West Valley City might be a little lame.

I'm not real sure though, so any help is appreciated!

Also, what are some popular attractions I might be interested in?

Check out ksl.com, its probably the best place to look for rentals.

Besides living downtown, given your age, it might be advantageous to look at postings at the Unv of Utah. It is not that far from downtown and will probably have a lot of summer rentals available.

Wow, KSL.com has a bunch of listings, thanks! I just wish I could search more specific things like furnished and how long the lease. Seems impossible to find a 3 month lease...

The place I'm working is in West Valley City too, so I'm not too sure how impractical it is to live in SLC and work in WVC, I would assume it is fine.

Unless you do not have access to a car, living anywhere near your workplace is OK.
SLC is not that big ... !!
Quite a few apartments very near AMEXCO, some of them within walking distance.
Does AMEXCO not have an internal service to help with housing ??

Yeah, I'm planning on driving my car up there from Texas, so I will have it. And no I don't believe they do...they should though!

I live just east (the other side of the interstate) of your work about 4 blocks.

I've never seen that WVC zip code before. Perhaps AMex has their own. It's in the suburbs so you'll mostly see families throughout that area. There is a polic academy right by AmEx. Google "Executive Rentals 84119" and see if you find a rental that suits your needs. Since it's a short-term rental and you want something furnished, that might help. Also, the zip codes in that area are 84118 & 84119 so if you want a rental near work, that will help with your search. Since you'll only be here for 3 months, I'd say rent near work and drive to the fun...wherever that is.

Newly renovated Valley Fair mall just up the street (north) from your work.

Park City is about 40 minutes from your work. Would be nice to get up there in the summer when it'll be so hot in the valley.

Good luck to you.

That looks like exactly what I need eggal, but wow thats expensive. I live in College Station, TX where housing is cheap. My roomates and I rent a brand new 4 bedroom 2 bath house for 1600 month. That $6300 month house is amazing! That stuff is just so expensive for what you get on the cheaper end though...

Am I going to have to pay that much pretty much everywhere?

Not at all. google "furnished rentals" for a wider selection in those zip codes.

When I'm in SLC I stay at a place called Springhill Suites (not the Marriott chain). It's an apartment complex in Taylorsville just off I-215 a couple of exits down from Amex. They have furnished short term rentals. I don't tknow the monthly rate, though. Also, I've seen places like Extended Stay America that are about $700/month. There's one near the Mavrik Center at 3300 South and the 215.

It's going to be hard to find a 3 month rental that isn't a Extended Stay hotel. Look at Sugarhouse area, it's the area around I-80 and Highland Drive. It's right on the freeway so its easy commuting and its a little more bohemian than anywhere but right downtown.
