[quote] Ummm hate to break the news but we have had recycling for over 10 yrs. About 2 yrs ago they added yard waste recycling.

I have never once had a recycling bin anywhere I have lived here, and there isn't one where we live in Sandy now I am hoping for it to be implemented everywhere. And I was recently told by a friend who's husband works closely with the sanitation department, that though there are recycling bins out there in select places, a large portion of it goes to the dump anyway. It's almost like "practice" recycling until they have the funds to do it 100 percent

I'm surprised actually that there are none of them in SLC yet.

Did your husbands friend really like Downtown Philly better than Moochies? I am also shocked at that. Was it the food or just that DP was nicer/closer? Moochies is about the only place I can go around here for comfort food, so I am defensive I guess.
Sorry, I was in a mood this morning. lol I was never really a fan of the pizza, just the bread. lol I think I was upset because I'm actually really picky about food. lol I don't eat most of the stuff Utahans love. lol

&, yes, as far as I know the friend does like it better. I, myself, haven't had moochies to compare, plus, I haven't had a Philly cheesesteak anyway. Maybe it was the atmosphere?? But, he's more picky than I am about food, so, I don't know. lol I'll have to try Moochies. I think it is, for ME, the smallness of it. & that it's usually busy (though, duh, that should say it's good) . lol

The only thing I'd add is glass. Ours is picked up every week. It's always filled. lol &, before I read that it said 'no glass', I just chucked it in. I never thought they didn't recycle it. Oops. lol

It was "Der Rathskeller" for those that might remember. I sure did love them. So while we've gained some we've also lost some. I know that Jack N The Box left the state after a fiasco ensued with a single incident where a hamburger they served to a small kid ended up getting the kid very sick. They were sued and decided to pull up stakes in Utah to avoid other troubles. I'd love to have them back, but don't see it happening. My wife laments the loss of the original Snellgroves Ice Cream. But frankly it's worth a drive for either Culvers or Neilson's Frozen Custard. Iceberg does a decent job frankly As for pizza however in this town, they have a ways to go before they get it right. It's not there yet.
Sorry, not Chicago, it NY style, but Este's IS good! If you like NY style. It's the best pizza I've ever tasted. You don't need a bunch of toppings either. I prefer mine w/ just cheese. It's so good! The one downtown is the best.

In Ohio, we had the Browns close, Steelers, an hour and a 1/2 away, the Bengals & Colts 4 hours away, the Bills probably about 4 hours too. I miss football. lol Of course, I already have my fav teams in football, basketball, baseball, & hockey, so not sure if I could change. lol

Well SLC has had them for ages. Even the groceries have bins for recycling plastic bags. They use the yard waste to turn into mulch for the city-owned garden areas.

eh someone referred to "atmosphere" regarding a given restaurant in an earlier post. Well. Quite bluntly that is ONE thing Utah in general has NONE of in a restaurant and probably never will (except just maybe a place like Tuscany and the Steakhouse at the Little America). Far too many screaming kids everywhere you go where food is concerned. So you can take that one OFF your list. Not gonna happen.

Them's fightin' words! I LOVE, LOVE LOVE, Godfather's combo pizza. It's my pizza of choice. It's the only combo I've found without bell peppers...and I love the taste of their pizza. I remember Der Ratskeller. There was one in my hometown...never ate their though. Junk pizza to me is Papa John's, Little Ceasar's and Dominos.

i actually agree with calibelle here. i know that there are recycling programs here in utah, especially at the colleges and up in slc. but in other places, they are either nonexistent, or just darn hard to find even if they are supposed to come to you. we have to drop ours off, and the location changes every so often, and as another poster said, they don't take everything that normal programs do. it's just not very well put together.

i disagree with this entirely. maybe children are just magnetically attracted to you or something, so i won't argue your anecdotal experience, but in my own anecdotal experience, i rarely have a problem with noisy kids in restaurants, even when at a family type establishment. even fewer problems when i'm out with my wife at a nice place in the evening.

and i live in utah county, so i know all about ant-like swarms of kids all over the place. i just don't think it is even remotely as big an issue as you make it out to be.

lack of intelligent drivers on the road, on the other hand...
