Well, here I am. Day 3 in Orem. We are in a corporate apartment for the next 2 months (while I search for a permanent place). Since we had no control over where this apt is located, obviously we had no clue what kind of school our daughter would be in. Well, today I figured out she is in the Bonneville Elem school district. Ruh roh. It's rated a big fat 4 on greatschools.com. Not exactly thrilling news.

Then I read where you can move your kid into any of the other Alpine schools. Is it really that easy? I don't want to call up the school and sound like a total moron (it's bad enough that I've got my Mississippi accent!). Is it a bad idea to land on the doorstep of the closest 10-rated school and demand they admit my child? lol

Also, what about the private schools? Some of them say they are non-sectarian, but are they really? What's the real low-down on Ivy Hall, Meridien, and Challenger? Which one would be more non-LDS? Any? None? Doesn't matter?

Thanks!

Check into a Montessori school and see what you think. Even if she is only in it or the one year that you are trying to figure your new community out. We start school-granite district- next week so I would get on the stick sop she can start with all the kids...
