Hi I'm new to the forum and SLC.
A bit of background - I am from an english speaking western country, very similar to the US. I moved with my wife and 2 kids 1 and 1/2 years ago to Virginia. We then moved here to SLC about 6 months ago. So as well as settling in to a new city, we have had to settle in a new country, new schools, banks, every day US life etc.
So how do I like SLC? I don't like SLC…. I LOVE it!! We have fallen in love with this place and plan to stay here quite a while.
Few things I love about it.
Number one is our suburb - Sugarhouse. This place rocks, so much I love about it. Mini cosmopolitan community, fantastic parks and shops.
SLC in general - Cheap housing - compared to Northern Virgina
People are more layed back then the east (massive generalization I know)
Limited traffic - (the way I travel anyway
and the outdoors Utah life in general - the mountains, the skiing, the desert. It is spectacular
Of course like anywhere there are things I don't love so much, but honestly, they are totally outweighed by what is great
