How popular is soccer in Utah considering it is home to a strong MLS team?
Attendances are good but there is usually 2000 or so seats free.

Just an example of what you are missing

Not very big. It's not very popular to watch in Utah, and when Real Salt Lake won the championship, most people here didn't even know we had qualified. On the other hand, youth soccer is quite popular, so maybe that will be changing soon.

Default El que no brinca es Rapids

"We are Salt Lake.

Nobody likes us.

We don't care."

I used to go to Utah Blitzz games, back in the day. Now that some employment issues have cleared up, I will be back in the southern end of Rio Tinto. Well, usually I'll be at the concession stand with my kids or escorting them to the potty.

"Vamos, vamos Salt Lake porque esta noche; tenemos que ganar."

I don't know if we are allowed to mention other message boards here; but there is a very active Real Salt Lake fan message board. Let me know if I can post or PM a link.

Sorry, me too. & hockey. Same w/ RSL winning, I didn't notice too much when Cleveland did a number of years back. Soccer just isn't as big here. Though, I do agree, the kids all seem to play it, my own included. lol

There are hundreds of thousands of soccer fans in Utah.

But they tend to be fans of Aguilas de America, Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara, UNAM Pumas, Morelia, etc. You won[t want to hear this if you're from London, but lots of people here wear Chicharito Hernandez Manchester United jerseys.

I was at the Gateway Center today and there was a Brazilian festival. A lot of people were wearing their Brazil jerseys and a few more people were wearing Brazilian club jerseys.

Youth soccer is huge and RSL is great. I noticed a lot of other sports fans in the area are always trying to down play MLS, but it just keeps growing. Too bad. They are running near 20,000 a game, so its not small. We'll see how things really are in 2 weeks when they have a home game the same night Utah vs BYU happens.

TRSL is gaining in popularity. There are a lot of kids who play but it is beginning to drop off. Part of that is due to poor ODP programs and a very political environment. There are some good ODP coaches but also some of the worst coaching in general I have ever seen. [mod] libelous [/mod]
