It's just DH and me for Thanksgiving this year, and I am not inclined to go to the trouble of a big holiday dinner for only the two of us.

I keep waiting for the Trib to come out with its annual list of restaurants open on Thanksgiving, but I haven't seen it yet. I know about the usual suspects (Grand America, Francks, Log Haven), but I wonder if anybody knows of other restaurants open for Thanksgiving this year. I'm especially interested in non-traditional options as I'm not a fan of turkey (I know! It's un-American! )

Thanks for whatever suggestions you might have!

How about going to PC? Check out the Park Record online edition for a full listing of Thanksgiving options.

The Sizzler is open although hardly non-traditional.

Thanks--I hadn't even thought about that!

Little Word is a tiny place to get great Chinese hot pots.

The Grand America and Little America would both be open, and they're always very good. I would expect that they'd have options other than turkey, too.

If one does go there, instead of dinner, go for the breakfast.
Just something else than the regular turkey and all the trimmings,
if you are speaking of *options* (four tables long ...),
unless one *insists* on *turkey*, which by the way will be much more expensive this season !!!

I've been to the Grand America's buffet on Thanksgiving several times. I think it is close to $40/person now. They have more food than any one person could eat! Cold salmon, shrimp, etc. plus hot meats/vegs like turkey, beef, chicken, tons of salads, breads, desserts. It's expensive and always packed but worth it IMO.

My experience has been that if you wait till the Trib's listing the place you want to go will be booked. Just call around. Most of the nicer places will have special menus that day. We enjoyed our meal at Mimi's one year. It was sure nice to walk away and not have dishes to do.

Uhuh ... 40 bucks, but ...
Does a good thanksgiving dinner at some other fancy place come close to that ?

I mean, it is a once a year thingy, and it does happen to occur with your loved one ?

What we do is, is just nibble on umpteen scrumptious whatevers ...
for a few hours !
I usually start the reverse way. Desserts first !!

On the other hand, we often *share* a Pizza Slice at Costco !!!
She gets the soft parts, and I eat the outside crust !
From one extreme to the other !
Seems to work for over 40 years now !

I happen to ask the better half what was going on this Thanksgiving, and she said,
*I want sushi* ...
Then she said,
*But Friday, we have all the kids home and then we will have Raclette.*
(Raclette is Cheese Specialty dish in the area of Switzerland/Frnace, which is our old stomping grounds)
I guess, no turkey at all this, year, which is fine with me.
