All of us old-timers are well aware of the incredible Christmas lighting down on Temple Square for between now and January 1, but I thought I'd just post this to tell those who are new to the Salt Lake valley to be sure to visit Temple Square any evening during the next three weeks. With over 700,000 lights and a nativity scene, it's a wonderful place to spend a little time and get into the holiday spirit.

Gorgeous! We have our tradition of going 'down' to see the lighting of Temple Square each year. We are not LDS. It's just so amazing each year, this year included! Also, def. recommend seeing the lights downtown. =)

There are also free concerts at both the assembly hall and tabernacle going on most nights and sometimes twice a night. There are nativity sets from around the world in the main street plaza and up into the church office plaza. Always a great place to visit during christmas season.

If people are going downtown, I would just advise that you take the 600 North exit from I-15 or approach from S Temple. There is some nasty road construction on 400 S and all of its intersections are bottlenecked. I have no idea how they figured this would be an appropriate time of year to do that, but they did. The traffic is bad. I was downtown on Saturday night and it was at a standstill everywhere.

My pictures are here, for anyone who wants to see. Not great, as I had to hand-hold the camera against things to avoid using the flash.

Man, I wish I could take "not great" pictures that were half that good. They were wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
