Hello all! I am planning on relocating to Salt Lake City around September 1. I have done some research on what neighborhoods I would like to live in, and found that I would love to be around the Avenues, Downtown, or Sugarhouse areas. I am not able to make it out to SLC before relocating, so I need help or suggestions finding a VERY pet-friendly apartment (or small house for rent) for my girlfriend and I. We have a very well behaved Australian Shepard mix who is about 36 lbs, and 3 cats, one of which is a Maine Coon. I have found plenty of apartments/houses that offer "pet friendly" options, but only for 2 pets! I have tried KSL, Padmapper.com, and craigslist.com to get some ideas of what's out there. I realize that it's too early to secure anything, but any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You are going to have to rent a house. Apartments will not let you rent with that many animals. Just look on KSL.com classifieds for rentals and start calling around. Most landlords (apartments or homes) charge monthly pet fees for every pet you have. Just a heads up. Also, I don't see you staying within that price range you mentioned, in the areas you want. Unless you are in a one bedroom apartment, which again, they won't allow that many animals in an apartment. Really it's going to be luck of the draw with what is available when you are ready to put a deposit down. Many landlords include water, sewer, and trash in the rent. Tenants are responsible for the electric and gas bills.

What you have been doing is really your only option. Just keep calling around and checking ksl until the time comes when you can put a deposit down and make the move. The areas you mentioned are very nice, but you aren't going to find anything decent within the price range you mentioned in those particular areas. Just my two cents.

Update for those looking to relocate...the apartment search went well. Found a 900 sq. foot 2 bedroom apartment, downstairs in a duplex, and $750/mo + heat and electricity. Takes all 4 pets (3 cats and a dog) for just an extra $200 deposit. Fenced back yard, and right between Liberty and Sugarhosue parks. Right where we wanted to be, and right what we wanted to pay. Try KSL.com and most of the ads on craigslist that have photos and phone numbers are legit.

Thanks for the update Jess. Many people don't check back in when they find what they were looking for, this will totally help others who are looking and in your situation! Glad you found a place for everyone to call home.

Does the same landlord have any similar properties? Semi-same situation, would love to live in that same area, have 2 small dogs, would love to pay $700-$900/mo...
