'Sugar hole' to be filled with housing, office space | ksl.com

The article paints this as positive. I don't think 1,000 new residences in a relatively small area along one major street is a good thing! Not sure if this article or another one yesterday cited the 1K residences.

As long as it's not low income properties you should be ok. If not, well then there goes Sugarhouse

Oh yeah Belle, it will get ugly. They will turn that road into a fast 4 laner for sure at that rate.

It's bad enough trying to drive east on 21st. I get claustrophobic when I'm in Sugarhouse. The roads are too narrow, not enough turn lanes and lots of pedestrians to watch for. It IS a nice area....I just don't want to live there in that congestion.

How far along are they with that street car/trolley/trax-lite they keep talking about?

Its supposed to run just south of 2100 S, right? Just north of I-80. I drove by there this weekend and saw nothing.

Yeah I thought it was supposed to be south of 21st. I heard from a co-worker who lives near there that there are some old RR tracks along the proposed streetcar path.

They are using the old railroad tracks. You can see the beginning of construction at 900 East and whatever that street is that runs in front of the Fairmont Aquatic Center. It's more like 1.5 blocks south of 2100 S.
