Hi, can anyone tell me if there are any HOA or other community fees for owning a home in Stansbury Park? Also, do the inversions affect this area?

I don't know about the HOA and inversion thing for that area. The HOA is hit and miss with many neighborhoods, and depends on the age of the house or neighborhood. I can tell you that that area gets pretty stinky from the Great Salt Lake. A very fishy, briny smell. Some people describe it as an eggy smell. If you haven't been to the area, check it out. Some people don't mind it. Some people can't stand it. It's personal preference.

I'm not trying to discourage you from moving to Utah, I promise! The inversion, yes it isn't pleasant especially if you have asthma. But it usually doesn't last too long, and I wouldn't let it deter you from buying your dream home.

Wow, why would the developer use that site for a golf course and nice community if it stinks? Perhaps the land was less $$$

I live in Stansbury and some areas of Stansbury have required HOA fees and other parts (the older area of Stansbury) have a voluntary $35.00/yr HOA. Yes, the inversion does affect us (we still sit in a valley. The Tooele Valley as opposed to the Salt Lake valley) and we do get the lake stink on occasion, but it isn't anything that should discourage you for checking out the area. If you live too close to the lake, the mosquitoes can be a bear. I noticed you have an issue with those in another post.

haha, yeah back to the mosquitoes; it's true I don't like them, but I don't have to live right ON the lake either to be happy. I'd like to be somewhat near Utah Lake, or at least near enough to see it from somewhere. I just came up with another idea for a new thread.. stay tuned!

Well, you won't see Utah Lake from Stansbury, of course. But our lake is nice too

I think most of the "lake stink" is limited to the area near I-80 and not much in Stansbury Park. I've been told that we get lake stink sometimes in Bountiful as well. Considering 50% of the population is within 10 miles of the great lake, I would imagine many people smell it from time to time.

The HOA fees out there are a joke. I mean they are great, but when I lived in other places, a cheap HOA cost more in a month then they charge all year. $35? You got to be kidding me. Plus you actually get benefits besides just potential enforcement. That's awesome.

kaytidid, I read that the inversion is much less out in Tooele Valley, because most of the crud stays on the east of the Oquirrh Mountains. Was I misinformed?

We do get the inversion, but as far as much less...that is a bit hard for me to compare because I don't get into the Salt Lake Valley very often during the winter months. I think it is a toss up. Tooele has less traffic and we (especially Stansbury) has more wind, BUT people in the Tooele Valley do use wood burning stoves during the winter.
