Hi,

We are moving to SLC in November, and I am a web developer working from home. Can anyone point me in the direction of the fastest high speed internet in the area?

Thanks!

UTOPIA is by far the fastest (and most reasonably priced for the speed), but it's only available in a few select municipalities along the Wasatch Front (the cities that chose to fund it). If you're moving to Salt Lake City proper, it is unfortunately not a UTOPIA city.

My second choice would be Comcast. Both it and CenturyLink are horrible when it comes to customer service, raising prices, and generally being terrible companies. But Comcast has more reliable and faster speeds overall.

Yeah, we are in the Avenues, so I assume Utopia is a no go. Comcast is what we had in Pittsburgh as well. Yay

Thanks for the info!

Kind of an IT kind of guy here. Indeed no doubt about it Cable/Comcast has the most consistent throughput and overall speed available. I happen to be on Centurylink. Not consistent with DSL and does down from time to time. At some point I may well change to Comcast. Wish we had Utopia out here in Herriman :-(

I have Century Link cable internet as part of my HOA. It is fast 12 MBPS Down 5 up, I rarely have issues with it. I can pay up for speeds up to 100 MBPS.

I get around 55 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload with Comcast boost. Terrible company to do business with, but if it is the speed you want - this is the only choice. Feel quite envious of Provo folks - with Google fiber coming up!

Moving to Utah this year, I love it here. However, high speed internet is one of the bad things that comes with it.

Sadly, if you're not in a Utopia area, Comcast is actually the "good" option.

In my neighborhood, we can get Centurylink's blazing 1.5mbps DSL. My only other option was to go with this Digis antenna junk which at least offers 12mbps, but starts throttling you once you've used a whopping 500mb in a day. I never thought I'd see the day where I wished I could get my hands on Comcast internet..
