Yes, Legacy Highway will be opening within a year or so. It will be a freeway, but due to negotiations with environmentalists, it's speed limit will be capped at 55. I'm sure the average speed will be higher than that though. The next road in the planning stages is the Mountain View Corridor. It will take over where the Legacy Highway ends and run down the Western side of Salt Lake County. I'll be that's 10 years out.

Thanks for the info. After living in Dallas for 10 years, traffic is a big issue for me!

Have you considered looking at a home just a little further south like Centerville? For your husband, the commute would be a breeze into Farmington since it's only a couple more exits north of Centerville and he'll be going against traffic- he may not even have to take the highway.

But for you going into SLC, just even being a couple of miles further south can make a huge difference during rush hour.

I agree with BuhByeCalifornia, Centerville is like in the middle of SLC and Farmington, I used to live in Centerville, really nice city, i wish i could be there! The schools are great, don't even worry about that, and the fact that you're not lds won't affect you or your kids at all; actually everyone is really nice; and Farmington it's really pretty too, my mom used to live there and i never heard a complaint from her, and the traffic is much better than here in Dallas, and if the traffic gets bad you can just take the 89 it's practically the same, it'll take you where you need to go,
i hope i helped ^_^

Default Moving from Florida to Davie

Hi, I see that you wrote this back in 2008. I would think you have already moved and have a feel for the area.

We are looking into moving at the end of the school year and would like to get a feel for the middle and elementary schools in Farmington, Kaysville, and even Bountiful. What has been your experience so far? I hope you can share and help us find a good spot for our children. Tks.

Farmington has some of the best schools in the state. So, the education your kids will get will be top-notch, by Utah standards which are at least average in the country. The commute from Salt Lake to Farmington will vary depending on where in the Salt Lake Valley you start from (big valley) and the amount of traffic. It can get congested between 4:00 and 6:00 on weekdays. However, I-15 reconstruction has made the commute much easier than it was.

I wouldn't worry too much about religion or fitting in if you are going to Farmington. There are plenty of things to do and the area is fairly diverse compared to some rural areas in Utah.

I think you are embarking on a great adventure. I suspect your family will love living in Farmington. And, yes, I do recommend living on the east side of the highway.
