I'm considering a job with Rio Tinto Kennecott, I would be commuting most often to the smelter not the mine. I need advice on the best areas to live that have a reasonable commute <40 min. Schools are the biggest consideration for me, my son has mild autism and one reason we are considering a move to to find a place with better resources for him (in the schools and community).
So far I'm looking at Stansbury park/Tooele and Woods cross/Bountiful though I'm sure I'm missing some good areas.

I live in Stansbury Park and am a spec Ed para at a charter school here in Stansbury. I work with several children on the spectrum. My family has lived here for close to 20 years and I love it.

The smelter is not really near the mine as it's just south of the lake not far from Saltair. Bountiful is a great choice as would be going West. both have great access to I80... I would avoid Woods Cross and NSL west of I15 as it's Mordor with the power plants and industrial sections.

Bountiful has a few of the best public schools in the state outside of Park City. I cannot comment on their quality relative to handling special needs so you would need to do due diligence.

Daybreak in South Jordan, or Herriman, Riverton or Bluffdale . Woods Cross and Bountiful are way to far away.

Copperton. It’s next to the mine but it’s a short drive up Highway 111 to 201 & the houses are the historic houses are among the most affordable in the County. The only problem is finding one for sale. It looks like only one of the new houses is currently for sale.

The Taylorsville, Kerns, West Jordan area west of 4800 West (west of 5600 West would be better) could be a good option for you too.

I’d stay out of most parts of West Valley and Magna.
