I'll be visiting a friend that just moved to SLC and I'm wondering if I should wait until April. I'm anxious for a road trip and want to do some hiking in the National Parks while I'm there so nicer weather is best. I prefer hiking to skiing. How much longer before the slopes become marginal? I see the SLC weather is warm during the day and there is has been no snow recently.

Personally, I would recommend June or September for the best weather. Both Zion and Arches should be really comfortable by mid-April, though, if that's either of them are where you're thinking of hiking. We're not done with the snow yet, even though there hasn't been much during the past week or so.

Although the Northern Utah slopes might have some residual snow by this time, April is a good time to come if you want to see some of the Southern Utah national parks - by late May it becomes too hot to enjoy the sights, especially Arches (not a good place to go in triple-digit temperatures).

March & April are hit and miss weather wise. It's really hard to predict what it's going to be like.

The end of April sounds like a good time for S. Utah parks. I'm thinking ater Spring Break/Easter. Any places to avoid? Or rather to skip in favor of better spots? I haven't gone to AAA yet to get Utah infomation so I'm open for suggestions.

Bryce might still be quite chilly in April.

Thanks for the advice. It seems both Zion and Bryce will be cold. I got the AAA books and the motel rates are still low in March. I've got warm coat, mittens, etc. so I might aim for the last half of March. I'll drive to Cedar City, spend the night, visit Zion, then drive to SLC the next day. I'll save Bryce for another time.
Will be visiting DD who has been there less than a month. 28 and has lived happily in the OC for 5+ years, likes to have fun, and is always on the go. Why the move? Anybody's guess.
I found C-D while searching for info on SLC. I'm a little concerned how she'll fit in there and be accepted. She isn't LDS (but does have that cheerleader look).
I hope she won't be snubbed. "Shunned" is a harsh term. I don't think her generation is so uptight about religion. A bit more liberal in general. I'm hoping.
How I'll be percieved by the general population? Anybody's guess.
