I'd like to know more about Clearfield - is it considered a suburb of Odgen or is it closer to Salt Lake City? Any info you could share would be appreciated. We're considering a relocation there, are an older working couple with grown children that wouldn't be coming with us. Love golf, horses and vacationing ... tia

Clearfield is a suburb of Odgen. It is a pretty diverse area because of its proximity to Hill Air Force Base. I like it up there, but just like anything, not everyone does. I don't know too many specifics about the area. Sorry.

Its definitely closer to Ogden. Although, I'd hesitate to call it a suburb. The area just south of Clearfield (Layton) has grown so much in the last ten to fifteen years, I'd almost call it the major city now.

Clearfield is a moderate income city. This is a polite way of saying that most of the housing is smaller and older. It came into existence because of Hill Air Force Base which it adjoins. Whether you will be happy there largely depends on what you want and what your expectations are. If you want a modest house in a somewhat older community, Clearfield is not a bad choice. If you are looking for a new, first-class home, I'd probably recommend you look elsewhere. Because of Hill Air Force Base, its a fairly diverse community with many religions and races represented.

I was just in Clearfield and it didn't really seem like there was a whole lot to it. Going south, I was immediately in Layton and going North I was immediately in Sunset and Roy (also small, but the Burger Bar was wonderful!) All are suburbs of Ogden, but I would have to say Layton was the nicest and biggest of all the areas and there was plenty to do (restaurants, mall, theatre etc)

Yeah, Clearfield is an Ogden suburb. Suburbs of Salt Lake City are all suburbs within Salt Lake County.
