Can anyone tell me what's a good area to rent or lease for a single guy relocating from South Florida for a new job?

I've done some research, but I'm looking for something near I-15 and W 4500 S. Somewhere with close access to public transportation would be nice. Since I will be leaving my car behind for the first few months.

I would also consider the possibility of having a roommate, but I need to have someone who understands the meaning of responsibility and likes to have fun on off days.

Depends on what you like to do, but if I were you, I'd be looking at options downtown or close to it. There looks to be much more in the way of entertainment/night life for single folks down there than anywhere else in the area.

As a single female, I lived in Salt Lake City for a year (I spent 9 years farther north). I would recommend downtown strongly because it is more liberal than surrounding areas. That is, if you prefer that. I really enjoyed living downtown. I lived by myself even and I felt pretty safe the whole time. I'm not aware if the FrontRunner or Trax will take you to where you need, but there has to be some kind of public transportation that will take you to your destination. Once you get used to the grid system that is salt lake, it's extremely easy to get around. I wish you the best with your relocation and I hope everything works out for you!

To extrapolate on the point, and I don't want to put words in teraval's mouth, but when you see "more liberal" referring to SLC, it isn't always necessarily a reflection of politics or voting patterns. Take it a little more literally. There's a little more of everything downtown and central city, and yes, the politics are a little more to the left as well, but that has a whole different meaning in Utah...

Yeah that didn't read too clearly, now did it. I suppose what I was getting at is the area is culturally pretty reserved, so "liberal" areas here aren't quite the same as "liberal" areas in other places I've been. But, hell, the word "liberal" has been so abused in our language over the years that it's really hard to assign it any one meaning anymore, I guess.
