Hello everyone!

I've lived in Utah for a while, moved to SLC to go to college a few years back, and now I'm going to be renting a house.

Unfortunately, I thought water, sewer, and trash were going to be included with rent... and I found out today that they aren't. I can't find any where online that gives me estimates for these utilities... can someone help?

Thanks,
Becky

How much you water the yard will make a big difference. In SLC itself, I pay roughly $45/mo.

My water/sewer bills have averaged between $19 & $22/month for the past three years. I've lived in my house for 11 years but have only tracked my utilities for the past three. My water is low because I live alone and have a small yard. Garbage is paid with my property taxes so that comes out of my escrow account as part of my mortgage payment. Currently I pay $132/year for SL County garbage service.

Are you power and gas included in your rent?

Thanks for all of your replies! It helps out a bunch for a first time water, sewer, trash user

The yard I'll be renting is considerably small, and we only have to take care of the front yard. We can opt to do the backyard, too, but I will just see how it goes with the front yard for the first month or so.

Power and gas aren't included in rent, however, I'm familiar with the cost structure because I've rented for a while.

Different cities/areas of the SL valley have different water districts. Will you be living in Salt Lake City or another area/city here in the valley? I live in Taylorsville and I think our water is very cheap. Other areas in the valley not so much. I have a coworker who lives in White City (part of Sandy) and I think her MINIMUM water bill is $30/month.

Here's a link to a map to try to determine what water district you'll be in. And here's a link regarding pricing and fees.

Default Really expensive water bill in Draper

I was reading this thread with people talking about $30-40 water bills and wondering if I may have some kind of leak. I live in Draper on a ~10,000 sqft lot (about 0.2 acres). I've been running the sprinklers 4x/week for about an hour at a time (6 zones total) and our water bill ended up at $150 last month. Is that par for the course, or might I have something wrong with my sprinklers?

That's always possible, but keep in mind that this thread is 7 years old.
