Hi There,

Oprah is having a show Friday about single men over 35. One of the cities recommended is Salt Lake City. Can anyone verify this. Also, I'm curious about single men at any age over 20. Is there a surplus of single men there?

Thanks!

Tracy

I don't think so...most of the people I know are married at least once.

There are, it just depends who's circles you hang with. Obviously, if you're LDS you're likely not going to see too many singles over the age of 18. But otherwise, SLC proper is a like most places.

Default What about a surplus?

Thanks for those who have replied.

I'm talking SURPLUS. In other words, if I was to go into a bar or restaurant on a Sat. night, would there be more single men or women

Thanks!

I don't care where you go in the United States, but whenever you walk in to a bar there will always be more single men than women. I am a single male, 23, and moving near SLC in just a couple of weeks, but whether I am representative of the populous -- I don't know.

From what I understand though, many people in Utah tend to get married very young (college years). I would imagine that that could be the equation for some fairly desperate, lonely, single men in their 30s. Logic would tell you that it would be the same for women, but with some men having five wives there's no telling .... just kidding!! (This is a huge misconception across the U.S. though. I do realize that there are not sprawling numbers of polygamous couples in "civilized" Utah, but many Americans don't realize that.)

Florida Guy,

Let me know what you find when you arrive. Any other comments from residents of SLC?

I don't know about a surplus, but they're out there...

I kind of laughed when Oprah said that this is one of the top cities (or whatever the ranking is) for single men. I would have never put Salt Lake on the list. Before I moved here, Salt Lake rarely crossed my mind.

It might not be too bad for someone over 35 since allot of Utah people get married young and then realize they made a mistake and get divorced at 30, but for someone my age (24) it would suck because I personally think there are more guys than girls, most cute girls my age are married, and if they're not, they have a boyfriend, and if they are single, they're either nasty or psycho.

My question would be similar. Where would a woman go to find single Christian men over 30 in the SLC area?

I would check out some of the local single site on the internet. Please be careful and use common sense. There seems to be a very good singles network in Utah. I am not single now, but during the time I was I found a lot of single activities.
