Hello,

I wanted to gather some information on different areas to live in around Bountiful, UT. My fiance and I are very much into road/mountain biking and skiing. We would be looking for trails very close to the house.

Ideally, we would like to get a single family house for under $250k. 3B, 2BR and a yard.

Any areas that pop into your head?

Thanks -- Aaron

We moved to Bountiful last year from Pennsylvania (by way of Florida). We like it alot. I think you can get a decent home for $250k. Now, a lot of homes not on the side of the mountain are older, like 50 years or more. But that doesn't mean they are dumps.

If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer them.

There are a couple of trails that go right out of Bountiful into the surrounding mountains, but the mountains around Bountiful are not particularly awe-inspiring, at least as when compared to other UT mountains.

Bountiful is also pretty pricey... -250K will get you a small, older house down on the valley floor in that area.

Having lived in both places I can tell you the weather is wonderful. Great winters and summers without humidity and clouds of biting insects. You will love the change. And did I mention sunshine?

I agree that Bountiful is pretty pricey. Also, keep in mind that Davis county has a certain feel to it, in the same way that all the counties have distinct feels to them here. If you're LDS, It might be good. I'm not saying that Bountiful is a bad place, but it certainly takes a certain type of person to feel comfortable there.

Half of my neighbors are LDS, half aren't. Everyone seems friendly and likes living there.

I don't want to bad mouth a place, but it's just not for me. I imagine there are others who feel more comfortable someplace else. I'm one of those people. In attending church there, it had a similar to Provo. For some people, LDS or not, this isn't a bad thing. I just have a preference not to live there and felt that someone should give this perspective.

Thanks for all the great feedback! Personally, I could care less about other people's religion. If they are mormon great, if not, that's also great.
As long as there are people to ride and ski with, I am happy. The reason I want to move to UT is for recreation and nothing else. Other people's religion will not affect my level of happiness or the way I live my life.
Are there other areas in the SLC area that may be better for "out the door" mtn bike trails?

Thanks again.
