I have heard the schools in Utah are not very good. How are the schools in Cache Valley?

www.GreatSchools.net (http://www.GreatSchools.net - broken link) has ratings which compare schools within a state to each other.

Utah State University, in Logan, has a highly respected College of Education. There is an elementary school on the college campus called Edith Bowen Lab School, and this is a great school. They do a kindergarten lottery each year for the spaces in the school. There is some preference given to kids who have older siblings already at the school.

Beyond that, from what I have heard the schools in the Logan School District (just Logan City itself) are supposedly better than the ones in the Cache School District (the rest of the communities in the valley, both north and south of the Logan District). I don't know this from personal experience, just what I've heard.

My husband's youngest siblings, who live in the boundaries of the Cache School District, go to the Thomas Edison Charter School rather than their local elementary. There are some charter high schools too, but I don't know how good they are.

I don't know if Utah schools aren't good as much as they're just not funded as much as other places. Students test just as well here. How much you learn in school is usually about how much you want to learn in school, which is influenced by the parents a lot. The schools here, and especially Cache Valley, are very safe, and having gone to them for middle school and a little high school, they felt fine to me. One of the positives here in Cache Valley, at least in high school, is that you can do a lot of concurrent enrollment with USU.

I would agree that it's probably more of a funding issue. The state of Utah has a very high graduation rate overall.
