Hello!

DH and I live down in Southern Utah County with our 2 young boys. DH works in SLC though and we are thinking of moving further north. I'm looking into the Sandy area, but also had questions about Murray. Is it a fairly safe city? The crime stats show it's above national average on theft related crimes, but seemed low on everything else. Are the schools good? Are there areas of the city to avoid?

Thanks!

Jen

Murray is great!

Great commercial tax base, which affords lots of services to residents. Lots of solid neighborhoods with older established areas that aren't going to skew downward like some newer developments may tend to do.

There's also a nice mix of residents here. Lots of older residents, so it's not over run with children like many areas of SLC Valley may be. Our neighborhood has a nice mix of younger families, middle aged families and older empty nesters...it's a nice feel and really gives a nice sense of community to the area.
Strong sense of community as Murray has been it's own city since before places like South Jordan, Herriman, West Jordan, etc...ever thought of incorporating.

Schools are great. Our kids are in Granite School District schools (east part of Murray, with Cottonwood High School being in Murray) but from what I've seen Murray schools seem to be on top of things and rarely have the same budgetary concerns that larger districts have.

Crime is low, however, there are a lot of commercial areas where theft may occur, but in the neighborhoods, it's very very safe!

Whew...seems like we are always cheerleading for Murray....but it's a great area...seriously!
