the last post here was years ago and that building is still there vacant. Looks like they have done parking lot surfacing most recently so i don't know if they are moving forward with the mission facility. I noticed one time while driving on ih10 west toward Boerne that theres an identical building off ih10. Had anyone noticed that?

I just can't imagine just the carrying costs spent on that place, surely in the high 100's of thousands, if not millions. One of your true White Elephants.

Noticed the activity there lately as well. They planted a bunch of palm-type trees around it in addition to the parking lot.

Now that you mention it, it does look exactly like the building (mortuary??) on I-10 by The Dominion.

So now that the environmental study is done and 281 will finally be expanded perhaps as early as next year, why on earth is the owner of this building dropping money into it? Like the earlier posts said, this building has to be torn down to widen 281 right?

Funeral home owner on a mission to build ?life centers? - San Antonio Business Journal

Here is an article from San Antonio business journal whet they talk that these are "life centers" where they are for events not just funerals. It's a paid site unless someone funds another source of the information.

Saying 'I do' in a San Antonio funeral home a growing trend | kens5.com San Antonio

Here's a news article talking about weddings at funeral chapels. It doesn't talk about the life centers though. I've googled for mention of the life centers but i haven't found anything. I don't typically drive at i10 by the dominion so i can't really check out that other building.

The building on I-10 is part of the Mission Park cemetery. It has been under construction and a massive eyesore for probably 5+ years now. I was told by someone that works there that the owner (Dick Tips) spends money on it as he has available funds. In my opinion, even when construction is finally completed someday, it will continue to be an eyesore. The architecture is horrendous.
